Trout Galore in the Lowcountry

Capt. Rick Percy
February 10, 2017
Beaufort - Saltwater Fishing Report

Have had several trips the last month or so, and our trout bite continues to be nothing short of fantastic. Fished with two friends last Friday and we caught around 70, with half or more over the 14 inch minimum. We were throwing all artificial soft plastics, including the Norton Sand Eel Jr, Vudu shrimp, Trout Tricks, and Bass Assassins. Most of the bites came on the bottom in 15 to 20 feet of water. And as the water is fairly clear, the clearer colors like opening night work the best. As we don't have any real cold weather showing yet in the long range forecast I expect the water temps to stay in the mid to low 50's, and the bite to continue.
