July 2022 Charleston, SC Fishing Report

Charleston - Saltwater Fishing Report

July 2022 Charleston, SC Fishing Report

May was a great month of fishing in Charleston, plenty of variety of inshore fish in the creeks inshore while the harbor and nearshore bite was red hot. Junes temperatures sky rocket as well as the water temperatures. That doesn't mean the fishing is bad, we just change tactics a bit to follow the seasonal pattern.

Fishing in July is a great time to bend the rod over and pull on something big! There is honestly no telling what you may reel in while fishing the summer months here in Charleston. Every inshore and harbor fishing charter is primarily targeting Bull Reds with the occasional by-catch of Sharks, Stingrays, Jack Crevalle and if you're lucky enough, a TARPON! I always tell my regular repeat clients if they want to go home with sore arms, come see me in the summer months. Now if they want to take a few fish home for dinner and have a blast catching smaller slot size (15-23") come see me in the fall/winter months. Filling the cooler is definitely possible during the summer but we recommend booking a bottom fishing charter, which we would gladly give you offshore charter recommendations. Inshore fishing in Charleston especially in the summer is just not a sustainable enough fishery to withstand large harvest of the inshore species. When the bite is good, we have no problem with sending our clients home enough meat to have a nice dinner!

Come out and fish a half day with us and get in on the action. We have many charters to meet everyone needs and budget. Please be sure to follow us on Instagram @ Portcityfishingcharters to see our daily and latest catches or on Facebook @ Port City Charters. We! Tight Lines!!! We hope to have you on board in the very near future!
