March 2021 Charleston, SC Fishing Report

Charleston - Saltwater Fishing Report

March 2021 Charleston, South Carolina Fishing Report

March is a great transitional month for fishing in Charleston! While the fish are still in that winter swing schooled up on structure, the harbor fishing slowly comes back with sharks and redfish. A half day charter is plenty of time to get on the action that the month of March offers!

Creek fishing inshore has been producing Red Drum in big numbers. We have been averaging around 25 Redfish a half day trip. The trout fishing has been a little off but the black drum, sheepshead and flounder have picked up the slack per say for the trout. The current bait of choice is live shrimp and quartered blue crab. Live shrimp have been hit or miss in the deeper water but we are definitely blaming the inconsistent air temperature we have been seeing. One week we have days that may make its way towards 80 degrees and then a few days later, it will only be a high of 55 which really takes a toll on the shrimp. We are seeing some consistent weather in the next few weeks which will help everything transition into that spring swing.

Harbor Fishing will start to come back the closer to April we get. We are already seeing water temperatures in the deeper water creep up around 60 degrees. Warmer water temperatures mean one thing... bait! Once the menhaden move in from offshore, the sharks and redfish will not be too behind it. April is typically a great month to take your chances on a big Bull Red Drum and Sharks. We are already seeing a lot of bookings for the year so please be sure to get on our books! You're more than welcome to give us a call or book online!
