Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE BUCHANAN

Water clear, 86 degrees, 1015.34': STRIPERS are fair to good from Garrett Island to The Dam drifting live bait in 24' of water. Target humps from 30'-45'.

BLACK BASS are fair on mainlake and secondary creek points very early on white Terminator buzzbaits, Pop R's, Rat-L-Traps. Later, work Carolina rigs with chartreuse/pepper 4" Disc Lizards (by Big Bite Baits www.bigbitebaits.com), watermelon/red (Creme Lures www.cremelure.com) 6" Scoundrel worms and pumpkin/char. 4" Disc Worms.

WHITE BASS slow in 22' vertically jigging Horizon Pirk Minnows and 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads.

CATFISH good on live perch, Punch Bait and liver.

Water clear; 86 degrees; 824.93': LARGEMOUTH are fair to good at night using 1/8 oz. black Tiny-Buzz or black single bladed Terminator spinnerbaits along stumps and laydowns on midlake flats in 2'-5'. Right at daylight switch to a white/chartreuse 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbait, Rat-L-Trap or pumpkin crankbait fishing these on creek points until the sun gets up. Then go to all soft plastics such as wacky rigged Scoundrel worms, pumpkin 4" Disc Worms (Big Bite Baits www.bigbitebaits.com) and pumpkin or Ice Tea Devil's Tongues working boat docks.

WHITE BASS are good at night using 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads, white or chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows.

CRAPPIE are fair to good around brushpiles in 8'-16' especially at night on Curb's crappie jigs, 2" chartreuse Lit'l Fishie Shads and minnows.

CANYON LAKE

LARGEMOUTH fair at night and at daylight in 5'-12' on dark topwaters and black Terminator spinnerbaits over tops of submerged trees. At first light switch to a plastic jerkabtait, smoke 3" Super Tube, pumpkin 4" Disc Worm or pumpkin Devil's Tongue.

SMALLMOUTH are slow to fair in 14'-20' tops and brushpiles in the lower end pitching the new Heavy Tube (by Creme Lure www.cremelure.com)

STRIPERS are slow to fair drifting live bait in 50' near the dam at night.

WHITE BASS slow.
