Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 77 degrees; 907.50' (1.5 feet low)

Largemouth to 5 lbs. are very good along breaklines of flats in 2'-8' and also secondary creek points in 8'-15' using white Terminator "Red Series" spinnerbaits, 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Traps and pumpkin JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters. Mainlake points are producting early and late in 4'-15' on 4" rootbeer JDC Strike Grubs, Olive Drop Shot Worms and small, medium running white crankbaits. Upriver, bass are good in and around laydowns and brushpiles in 3'-6' using Texas rigged Chameleon Scoundrel worms. or 4" Ring Worms.

Smallmouth to 3.5 lbs are improving along ledges of points in 8'-15' using watermelon-red fleck 4" Strike Grubs, 4" Whacky Sticks and Devil's Tongues on drop shot rigs.

Crappie are fair to good upriver in 6'-12' tight to trees and brushpiles on minnows.

Lake Buchanan: Water murky to clear; 77 degrees; 1014'

Largemouth are good as 'power fishing' has picked up along points, boat docks and channel breaklines in 3' - 12' of water using white Terminator buzzbaits, Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps, topwaters like

a JDC Skip-N-Pop, and Texas rigged green-pumpkin Whacky Sticks.

Stripers are fair to good in 25'-30' drifting live bait or casting 3" Spoiler Shads and vertically jigging Pirk Minnows through surfacing schools.

Crappie are fair over brushpiles in 8'-15' on minnows.

Lake LBJ: Water stained; 75 degrees; 824.89' (full):

Largemouth are very good on channel breaklines, creek points w/wood and seawall rip rap in 3'-8' using blue shad Terminator buzzbaits and spinnerbaits, blue back Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps, watermelon JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters, and Texas rigged green-pumpkin Whacky Sticks or watermelon-red creature baits along docks or boulders w/deep water close by.

Crappie are fair to good over brushpiles on chartreuse or white crappie jigs and minnows.
