Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water gin clear; 64 degrees; 906' (4' low).

Largemouth are very good to 10.4 lbs on sloping gravel flats in 2'-6' feet on crawfish Rat-L-Traps, wacky rigged Cotton Candy JDC Dog Bones and white Terminator custom tungsten spinnerbaits.

Smallmouth are good over rockpiles in 4'-8' on mainlake points early using all chartreuse Terminator tungsten spinnerbaits, smoke-red JDC Craws and later on bluff ledges drop shotting Devil's Tongues.

Stripers are good to 30" in 30' on silver Pirk Minnows or swimming white Snap Back soft jerkbaits rigged on a RED Bait Jerker Hook (by Falcon Lures) and Spoiler Shads when the fish are on the surface.

White Bass are good along main river channel and long sloping points jigging 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows, swimming 2" Spoiler Shads and trolling crankbaits.

Crappie are good at the fishing pier and tight to trees in 4'-8' on minnows and crappie jigs.

Lake LBJ: Water clear; 62 degrees; 824.90':

Largemouth are very good to 8 lbs feeding aggressively in 4'-8' ditches and of flats with submerged stumps and laydowns using wacky rigged 5" watermelon-red Whacky Sticks, 1/4 oz. crawfish Rat-L-Traps and Texas RED Terminator spinnerbaits.

White Bass are very good in 5'-20' on mainlake points and channel turns jigging, Pirk Minnows and swimming 2" Spoiler Shads.

Crappie are good to 14" in 2'-4' feet on small grubs and crappie jigs.

Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 60 degrees; 1012.32':

Largemouth are good on 5.5 lbs in 4'-8' along breaklines of creek channels using weightless Texas rigged watermelon-red Whacky Sticks, crawfish Rat-L-Traps and white-chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits.

Stripers are very good to 28" from The Willows to Mud Island drifting live bait, jigging Pirk Minnows, casting white Snap Back soft jerkbaits rigged on red Bait Jerker Hooks and 3" Spoiler Shads.

White Bass are good in Morgan and Beaver Creeks all the way uplake jigging Pirk Minnows, casting 2" Spoiler Shads and trolling Shad Raps.
