Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 62.4 degrees; 906.92' (2' low):

Largemouth are very good to 7 lbs. in 4-13 feet along mainlake points, transition areas of bluffs and gravel flats using smoke-red JDC Grubs on jigheads, watermelon-red Brush Hogs, Texas rigged watermelon Scoundrel worms and brown-blue line finesse worms on shaky jigheads. Smallmouth are very good in 4 to 12 feet over mainlake points and bluff ledges using crawfish Wiggle Warts, smoke JDC curl tail grubs and pumpkin Robo worms on "shaky" jigheads. Stripers are fair under trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits on down riggers Down Deep Shad Raps and white 1/4 oz. Curb's striper jigs. White Bass are good vertically jigging 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows, trolling Shad Raps and Diawa Shad Masters. Crappie are good suspended in 12 to 20 feet using live minnows and white Curb's crappie jigs. Lake LBJ: Water murky; 63 degrees; 824.76'

Largemouth are good in 3-8 feet along stumps, laydowns and docks along flats w/watermelon-red Whacky Sticks, blue/white/chartreuse spinnerbaits and 3/16 oz. finesse jigs. White bass are fair to good trolling Shad Raps and vertically jigging Tiny Traps and Pirk Minnows under birds. Crappie are good around in 1-3 feet using live minnows and white Curb's crappie jigs.
