Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Clear lower-cloudy upper; 67 degrees; 914.65':
Largemouth are good in water 5'-14' deep over gravel flats feeder creeks and transition areas of bluffs using watermelon-red JDC lizards, pumpkin 5" Whacky Sticks on jigheads.
Smallmouth are good in 5'-12' along mainlake points
and ledges using rootbeer JDC curl tail grubs, 6" watermelon Scoundrels on jigheads and white suspending crankbaits.
Stripers are fair trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits on down riggers and vertically jigging silver Pirk Minnows and white 1/4 oz. Curb's striper jigs.
White Bass are fair in 10' to 20' vertically jigging 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows, trolling Shad Raps and Diawa Shad Masters.
Crappie are slow to fair on minnows and Glo Worms.

Lake LBJ: Water clearing; 66 degrees; 824.80':
Largemouth are fair to good in 3'-8' along docks,
seawalls and waterwillows on breaklines of flats using
1/4 oz. crawfish (No. 46) Rat-L-Traps, Curb's erratic jigs (swimmin' jig) and 5" watermelon-red Whacky Sticks.
White bass are fair trolling Shad Raps and vertically
jigging Tiny Traps and Pirk Minnows under birds.
Crappie are good around in clear water in 6-10 feet
using live minnows and white Curb's crappie jigs.

Lake Buchanan: Water murky; 66 degrees; 1002.69':
Largemouth are fair to good in 3' to 6' in stickups
and flooded grass back in creeks and pockets using
Rat-L-Traps, cotton candy Whacky Sticks and 6" JDC
Lizards and topwaters.
Stripers are fair jigging white Curb's bucktail jigs and drifting live bait around Shaw Island in 15' to 30'.
White Bass are good in creeks 12' to 20' trolling Shad Raps and vertically jigging Pirk Minnows and 1/8th oz. Tiny Traps from Paradise Point to the mouth of the Colorado.
