Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 67 degrees; 914.18':

Largemouth are fair to good in 5'-14' feet along channel breaklines and standing timber, gravel flats and bluff ledges on green-pumpkin tubes, watermelon-red Flukes, junebug Whacky Sticks on jigheads along breaklines of deeper creeks, JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters (early or under cloud cover) and white suspending crankbaits which are both effective in back of creeks. Smallmouth are good in 5' to 15' along mainlake points and ledges using rootbeer JDC curl tail grubs, smoke-red tubes on ball jigheads and Bleeding Shad Tiny Traps. Stripers are fair to 20" trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits and vertically jigging Pirk Minnows and white 1/4 oz. Curb's striper jigs. White Bass are slow to fair upriver in 5'-10' on Road Runners and minnows and slow in the mainlake trolling Shad Raps. Crappie are fair to good upriver in 12'-20' on minnows and Curb's crappie jigs. Lake LBJ: Water stained; 67 degrees; 824.80':

Largemouth are good to 5.14 lbs in 4'-10' along docks and breaklines of flats w/stumps or laydowns on watermelon-red Flukes, watermelon-chartreuse Big Pig creature baits, Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps, white/chartreuse/blue spinnerbaits, wacky rigged green-pumpkin Whacky Sticks and pumpkin JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters. White bass are fair trolling Shad Raps and Tiny Traps. Crappie are fait to good over brushpiles in 8'-12' on minnows and white Curb's crappie jigs. Lake Buchanan: Water clearing; 66 degrees; 1012.91':

Largemouth are good in 3' to 6' along breaklines of flats with flooded grass in creeks and pockets using white-chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits, Bleeding Shad 'Traps, weightless cotton candy Whacky Sticks on wacky rigs and Texas rigged green-pumpkin Scoundrel worms. Stripers are fair from Shaw to Flag Island in 28' trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits, white Curb's bucktail jigs and drifting live bait. White Bass are slowing down but still fair trolling Shad Raps along Hog Island and casting or jigging Pirk Minnows and Tiny Traps above Paradise Point. Choke Canyon

Largemouth are very good to 8.14 lbs. along cove points and stickups from 5'-12' using white/green/blue spinnerbaits with double willow leafs, watermelon-red Flukes, black/red 1/4 oz. jigs and weightless green-pumpkin Whacky Sticks. White Bass are slow. Crappie & Catfish are fair to good. For specific info. check in at Callaham Store.
