Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE BUCHANAN:

Water "gin" clear; 76 degrees; 1007': Largemouth fair on lake points and ledges in creeks in 8 - 15 feet on chrome crankbaits; 1/4 oz. silver Terminator spinnerbaits and Creme Scoundrel worms on wacky rigs around stumps and laydowns. Stripers fair to good over trees at midlake drifting live bait and trolling bucktail jigs. White bass good on lake points and over humps early and late on clear Rat-L-Tops, chrome/blue 1/8th oz. Spin Traps and later, vertically jigging 1/4 oz. Horizon Pirk Minnows and trolling. Crappie slow over brush piles on pearl Creme Maxi Tubes on 1/16th oz. heads and minnows. Channel and blue catfish good on liver and live bait. Flatheads good on live perch or goldfish on trotlines.

CANYON LAKE:

Water ultra clear; 77 degrees; 905.37': Largemouth and smallmouth bass fair inside of secondary points along creek channels and bluffs in 8 to 15 feet on 1/4 oz. white Terminator spinnerbaits, 5" pumpkin Lake Fork lizards and 3 inch smoke/blue flake grubs worked across submerged trees. Stripers fair very early and late on main lake points on Pencil Poppers, 1 oz. Rat-L-Traps, Shad Spoons and live perch. White bass fair along lake points and channels in 15 to 30 feet on 1/4 oz. Horizon Pirk Minnows, Tiny Traps and 1/4 oz. bucktail jigs. Crappie fair upriver along treelines on chartreuse Creme Tiny Tubes and minnows. Channel and blue catfish good on live minnows and perch. Yellow catfish fair on goldfish.

LAKE LBJ:

Water clear; 76 degrees; 824.54': Largemouth fair to 3 lbs. in shallows on watermelon Magic Shads, 1/4 oz. white/chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits and 5" watermelon Lake Fork lizards. White bass fair to good on 1/16th oz. white Curb's crappie jigs, 1/4 oz. chrome/blue Rat-L-Traps. Crappie good in 12 to 20 feet over brush piles in main lake on chartreuse or white Creme Tiny Tubes and minnows. Channel and blue catfish good on live and cut bait. Yellow catfish to 20 pounds good on trotlines in 20 - 30 feet on 3 inch live perch or goldfish.
