Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Largemouth Bass

Water clear; 80 degrees; 824.55': Largemouth fishing in the lower and midlake areas is fair to good on an early morning bite using 1/4 oz. silver Terminator buzzbaits and Pop R's. Later switch to watermelon/chartreuse tail Creme Scremer worms or watermelon 5" Lake Fork lizards worked in thick brush piles or tree tops along breaklines in 8'-16' of water. Try 3" Minnie Bucket pumpkin grubs on 1/8th oz. heads skipped far under boat docks or 3" finesse worms on split shot rigs in 12' plus.

Canyon Lake

Water Ultra Clear; 80 degrees; 905.30': Largemouth & smallmouth bass fair to good early in major creeks at mid & lower lake. At or before daylight use a Terminator buzzbait spinnerbait or Spit N' Image on gravel flats in 2'-8'. Later look for fish to be holding in 8'-16' along ledges of bluffs inside of secondary points of major creeks. Work submerged trees with white 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits, or 3" Minnie Bucket smoke/blue flake grubs. Secondary points are good choices for either Lake Fork Ring Frys on Carolina Rigs or 3" motor oil finesse worms on split shot rigs. "Dead stick" both these baits. Crank baits used in 6'-12' creek channels are also producing. Stripers are best at night using live bait over sunken islands near dam.
