Galveston Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report
February can be a great time to be fishing with one of our Galveston Redfish Guides. During the weather breaks we are doing real well targeting Redfish in Galveston Bay. Our main areas lately have been West Galveston Bay - primarily Chocolate Bay are as well as Greens Lake and Greens Cut areas.
Baits of choice have been live finger mullet when available. Other times soft plastics in the darker colors have been the best. Depending on currents - we are using from as light as 1/16 oz and up to a 3/8 oz. Finding the bait fish in the area is key to finding the fish especially this time of year when the bait fish are more scarce.
Sheepshead http://www.fishinggalvestontx.com/news/february-fun-fishing-in-galveston along the Galveston Jetties are beginning to amp up, as well as Bull Black Drum. These two species of fish make for an excellent Galveston Fishing Charter half day trip. We will target the fine eating Sheepshead first until we get a box full or limit out - then get the larger tackle out and catch and release Giant Black Drum as well as Bull Redfish. Galveston's Bull Red population is better than I have ever seen it. We definitely have the redfish here in Galveston Bay.
