LAKE RAY ROBERTS FISHING REPORT

Lake Ray Roberts is 3 feet lower than normal level with water temperature today 49 to 53 degrees. Water color is stained in most areas of the lake now but the northern creeks are clearer than the rest of the lake. Largemouth bass are starting to move up into pre-spawn pattern. Catching them on secondary points near spawning areas using Xcalibur XR50 Rayburn Red lipless crankbait and black/blue chatterbait in 2 to 6 feet of water. February is still early for Ray Roberts bass fishing to really kick in but covering a lot of water will get you some good bites.

Sand bass fishing is good. These fish are still using the same areas of structure from Isle du Bois State Park to Wolf Island on the east arm of the lake. Keep in mind the water is still only 50 degrees on the main lake in the afternoon so the bites are still light and takes a finesse presentation of the spoon to get a bite. Best depth this week is 28 to 32 feet. We are fishing humps, poiunts, roads and ridges looking for feeding fish. Now is the time to catch the biggest fish of the year as the female fish are staging for the spawn. We are still catching all our white bass on Cotton Cordell CC Spoon 3/4 oz. chrome with a Flies-By-Night fly tied 14 inches above the spoon. Fishing is only going to get better as we head into spring. If you are wanting to book a spring fishing trip you need to get with me soon especially for weekend dates as my calendar fills up fast this time of year.

Have fun fishing,

Tim
