Lake Ray Roberts White Bass Fishing Report

Lake Ray Roberts is 1 1/2 feet lower than normal level and clear to lightly stained in most areas. Water temperature is 87 to 91. Sand bass are still schooling strong mornings but are unpredictable. The best areas to fish change daily and it takes some looking to find fish. We have not been able to stay on biting topwater all morning lately but when the fish quit schooling on top we have done well fishing deep on stucture near the areas the fish schooled earlier. From Culp Island to the Marina on the east arm and southwest of Wolf Island on the west arm have been the most consistent. Catching all our topwater fish on the "Floatin Thing" that I make but a clear Tiny Torpedoe works well also. A Cotton Cordell CC Spoon chrome color in 3/4 oz., with a Flies-By-Night chartreuse fly tied 14 inches above to catch doubles, is what we use fishing deep. Best depth on the deep fish has been 18 to 25. We have been finding the deep fish on submerged points and dropoffs near where the fish schooled on top.

Have fun fishing,

Tim
