Lake Champlain - Freshwater Fishing Report

We are doing very well on Salmon. Brown Trout have been hit and miss.Water temps are in the mid low 70s and the fish are 50-70-60 feet down taking a varity of spoons. We have also landed 3 Steel head recently. The Salmon bite is ON now. We are seeing there pre spawning colors (darker coloring and hook jaws on the males) showing up so it wont be long before they make there way to the tribs to spawn.
Walleye are on the reefs and fishing at night is producing. We have also been getting them midday while Salmon fishing.
Bass and pike are on fire and should be through Sepetember. We have landed Smallmouth Bass over 4 pounds on a regular basis. We have also landed Pike over 12 pounds. For bass. Senkos, crawbugs, crawlers, and crayfish are doing well. As far as Pike, spinner baits have been getting there attention.
As far as the Lazy Lakers. They are out there and on the bottom as well as some suspeneded. We do not target them due to there poor sporting and eating quality. We do however catch one here and there. They have been hitting slow trolled plugs and spoons on the bottom using lake trolls.
We still have a few open dates for the 2009 season fishing.
