Cargill Fish Mangement Area is opening 7 phosphate pits

Postby Captgenefl » Mon Mar 31, 2003 11:38 am

They are opening 7 new pits for fishing. Plus old ones open also. Bill Dance had a tv show while back he said "Best fishing he's ever seen, anywhere".
I'm printing out maps and getting ready to check out roads and ramps at Cargill fish management area. I received their map and permit info Friday. This is what I know so far, there are 12 pits and 3 are closed (they open or close them without notice), they only permit a certain number of boats on each pit. 24 boats on all pits and area is full, the access to pits opens at 6:00 am till 2pm , Friday through Monday, closed on major Holidays. no motors over 10hp can be used. Roads can become rutted and 4wd is recommended. You have to leave your fishing license at check in station and wear a pass. Access to pits is first come , first serve basis .Each pit has it's own limits.
