jacks

Postby shawn paul » Mon Jul 16, 2007 8:21 pm

dear capt. rick and others,

i live on a canal and often see large jacks in the 5 to 15 lb range swimming around. i have made various attemps to catch them with topwater plugs, bucktail jigs, and some other lures. the majority of them follow and chase my lures but never actually eat it. what artificials would you recomend to catch them?

thanks,

shawn

Thats very odd that they arn't biting. Jacks are very agressive fish. Is it a saltwater canal, or a brackish water canal? Either way, throw a 2 or 3 ounce silver, or gold spoon at them. You dont have to jerk it around through the water or anything, just reel it in at an average speed. If they dont bite that, then i dont think they are jacks  good luck.
