Stop by Our Office for up to Date Fishing Report.
Los Cabos Billfish Tournament
There was 14 boats in the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament. Some of the fish caught was a Marlin 369lbs, 180lb Tuna , 50lb Tuna, 60lb Tuna caught by the guys from Oklahoma, a 33lb Wahoo. Congratulations to the 2014 Los Cabos Billfish Tournament Champions on Team Reel Gold! They will be receiving cash and great prizes from our sponsors tonite at the awards ceremony at the beautiful beachside terrace of the Playa Grande Resort. They also qualified to compete at the Offshore World Championship in Quepos, Costa Rica in April. All in all it was some good fish days with lots of fun being had by all..
We are so glad for this and for you guys who have supported us and looked over the fishing report the last 2 and a half years we are grateful. This week we have had some fisherman show up to town and we are starting to get back to our normal routine of catching fish and offering one of the best Sport Fishing Charters in Los Cabos. Now on with the report.
WEATHER: The weather has been absolutely great with highs in the ladder to mid 80,s and lows droping down into the adder to low 70,s. Well as I write this you can feel that north wind blowing and its pretty cool over the last 2 nights really. You can definitely feel a change in weather and it wont come to soon with this summer being one of the longest and hottest I have ever felt here in Cabo and then on top of that we had Odile which really made it a long summer but we are beginning to see some light.
WATER: We still have really warm water on both the Sea of Cortez side and Pacific side also. The water temperature averages 83 to 85 degrees, which is pretty warm still but good for Marlin and Dorado fishing. Go to this link which will show you water temperatures for the southern half of Baja. http://www.tempbreak.com/index.php?&cwregion=cb
BILLFISH: The Marlin are all over the place but slow to bite as we baited 10 yesterday and only had one fish landed on Cabailltos. Most of the fish are one to three miles off the Light House and up to inside the San Jamie Banks. Today the Bob Marlin caught 2 Sailfish and one Tuna over 40lbs at Rancho Migrino and I have also hear of some small Blue Marlin caught and released this week.
DORADO: Our boat did real well this week with Dorado we landed quite a few from Solmar to Rancho Migrino on lures, striped bait and ballyhoo. All the fish were from A quarter mile to a half mile off the beach and sizes ranged from 12 to 23lbs. Lots of them out there if you like Dorado fishing I don’t think you will have any problem catching a bunch throughout this coming week as there is an abundance of them now.
TUNA: Lots of small Tuna around and still hanging out in the area by Grey Rock caught on light line and chumming Sardines with most fish in the 5 lbs to 6lbs range and lots of Skip Jacks. There has also bee quite a few large Tuna caught also during the Billfish Tournament so the Tuna are here and around and should be through this coming week.
WAHOO: There were a few Wahoo caught through out this last week up around Rancho Migrino on lures and jet heads. Really not a lot of boats going out but the ones going out are doing good. The weather and calm seas have made for a pretty nice ride out there with lots of fish.
INSHORE: The Panga fishing has been good inshore with lot of small Tuna from Grey Rock to the Pump House and also lots of Dorado being landed. Even a few Marlin and Saifish are being caught from Pangas inshore making it pretty nice since you don’t have to run far to get into the good fishing action.

The small Bisbee the lead off tournament up to the big Bisbee tournament coming up this weekend did produce some nice fish as I know there was a 320lbs Blue caught and I understand it wasn’t in the Jack pot and also a 69lbs Tuna landed. I am not exactly sure on this but I think there was 81 boats a respectable turnout.
Bisbee T ournament is on!!!

How to Make a Smoked Tuna Melt
This recipe is a smoky spin-off version of your traditional tuna melt. Made with Ahi tuna steak, this recipe also has a gourmet flare over canned tuna. As with all smoked recipes, this smoked tuna melt does take a long time to cook. However, if you are looking for a quick lunchtime meal, you can always smoke the Tuna ahead of time on the weekend and refrigerate it for sandwiches throughout the week. Tuna is a healthy, protein packed meat that is also low in fat, making this recipe a great alternative processed and packaged lunch meats.
Smoked Tuna Melt Ingredients
• 2 Ahi tuna steaks (smoked)
• 1/3 cup Mayonnaise
• 1/3 cup of thinly sliced celery
• 1/8 cup of thinly sliced onion
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 1 sliced tomato
• Fresh lettuce
• Sliced cheddar cheese
• White, Wheat, french, sour dough, or rye bread
• Spreadable butter
Smoked Tuna Melt Recipe Directions
1. Cut your smoked Ahi tuna steaks in small pieces and mix them in a large bowl with the Mayonnaise, celery, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
2. Take your mixed ingredients and spread it out on a piece of French, sour dough, or rye bread. Make sure your slice of bread is buttered on the bottom before placing the ingredients on top.
3. Lay a slice of tomato and cheddar cheese on top of your smoked tuna mixture.
4. Lay another slice of bread on the top to form a sandwich and butter the top of the sandwich.
5. Heat your stove to medium and put your tuna melt in a skillet with the lid on. The lid will help trap the heat in around the entire sandwich and will help melt your cheese.
6. Cook your smoked tuna melt in the skillet until the bread is browned on the bottom. Flip and brown the other side of your sandwich. Your tuna melt will take approximately 2 minutes per side.
BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You dont want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report. http://www.jcsportfishing.com http://youtu.be/tSXN6pifQyQ
