Trout and Redfish SLAM Down Dularge 6-24-08

Postby Capt Marty » Wed Jul 02, 2008 6:37 pm

Had the pleasure to fish with Jim Levang from Minnesota today. Jim is in town on business and wanted to get a sample of South Louisiana's fishing. I think he may be spoiled now. The Gulf was slick calm today, which made for a great ride out. The morning started off slow, with no moving water anywhere. We hit 4 locations without a bite, but at our 5th stop "It was ON!!!". The yellow mouths were coming in the boat two at a time, nothing but tandem rigs for these Dularge trout!!!!! Jim could not believe it, in about 20 minutes we were done. Did some scouting at a few other locations to show Jim around and by 10:00 we were off chasing red fish. It did not take Jim long to hook up with his first red fish, how exciting for him!! We hooked 6 reds in about 1 hour and then called it a day. Jim got to fight a 27 1/2 inch red fish which had the drag screaming. What a great day to be on the water. I know Jim won't forget todays trip for a long time, and I'm sure he will be back to Du it again. Thanks, and great fishing with you.
