Day 1 with Mark Dancygier and his crew from New Jersey. This was the crews first time down south salt water fishing. The guys only wanted to fight the bronze backs, but it did not take much to get them to sample the trout fishing too!!!! At our first stop we were greeted with thousands of birds hitting the water chasing shrimp. After the guys worked out all their tangles they started slinging in the yellow mouths. The guys were not interested in keeping any fish today, so after icing down one limit of trout for myself we played catch and release. When the bite slowed down it was off to bust the reds. Boy did these guys have a incredible experience today. Not 5 minutes after we started our drift, we had a pod of reds coming straight to us...."It was on"!!! Pod after pod kept coming down the bank. I would say we hit at least 12 pods of fish. 5-30 fish in each pod. Sure is a awesome site watching their fins/tails sticking out the water and sight casting to them. The guys witnessed at least 100 reds, catching reds from each pod. Not even sure what the final count was that hit the deck, but I kept 5 fish for my mother. On our way back to the dock we hit a couple more schools of trout practicing catch and release. Looking forward to day 2 tomorrow. Tsunami's and LSU Chubs did the damage again as always, no need to waste money on that live bait stuff!!
