A Billion Shad!

Capt. David Mierkey
May 31, 2012
American River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Shad fishing right now is completely off the hook. The American, Feather and Sacramento rivers are full of Shad and it is not uncommon for us to hook 40-50 a nite(6-9pm). These chrome bullets are a blast to have on the ultra light rods and 4 to 6lb test line that I run. Pink, Green are the best colors if you cast them out into the current and move them just a little. If you are fishing bigger water, just put the rod in the holder and watch the take down. Now is the time until mid-June.
