Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Topwater action has slowed somewhat, but we fished on Wednesday with Robin Killoran, who brought in a few bluefish on the surface as well as some short fluke and small sea bass and nice porgies
Friday's trip was with Stephen Kim of Briarcliff Manor NY--along with his three sons, Philip, Jordan, and, David. There were three-footers on the water, but the family had fun with schoolie bass, sea bass, fluke, bluefish and large porgies. Six fish were taken home for dinner. This was the family's first saltwater fishing experience.
Following the blue moon and a salute to the late astronaut, Neil Armstrong, we started off the new month with the Gebhart family from Bronxville NY-- Robert and Christie, and their sons and daughter--Brendon, Tyler, and Lila . This was another first-time saltwater trip for the young children, and everyone was delighted with their catch of bluefish, striped bass, and non-stop action with large porgies up to 16".
On Sunday morning we fished with Leah Flax, who grew up in Village Creek, Norwalk, and currently lives in Brooklyn NY--taking out her grandpa, Phil Oppenheimer of Village Creek and Leah's cousins, Kyle and Emily. The family got into bluefish, porgies, and sea bass as well as some short fluke. Some porgies and blues were kept for dinner.
Sunday's afternoon trip was with Jason Murphy of New Canaan, his son, birthday boy, Connor Murphy--and Connor's friends, Daniel Rajkowski, and Connor Minor. After a fairly slow start and moving to a lot of spots we found some huge porgies as well as bluefish breaking the surface as we were fishing for the scup. They brought in half a dozen blues and many keeper porgies, taking home eight to be cooked up for Connor's birthday party at Woodway Country Club.
On Labor Day we dealt with high winds throughout our trip with Christine Shapter and Maureen Czick of Vernon Ct and their two children, Jack and Cathy, so we stayed very close to shore to avoid 3-4 foot waves. They brought in stripers, small sea bass and porgies up to 15"--all a new experience for the whole family, who indicated eagerness to fish aboard My Bonnie one more time before the end of the 2012 season.
