Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Recent thunderstorms or predictions thereof have kept us off the Indian River in Sebastian FL for more than a week. The latest local fishing reports include news that the Inlet is still holding some large jacks, an occasional redfish, and lots of feisty bluefish in the 2-4 lb range.
We'll be pulling our Hydra-Sports bay boat from the Indian River on Monday and getting her ready for her long layover in Sebastian. We plan to be back in Norwalk on May 3, and My Bonnie will be readied for launch the following week.
Many of my northern clients have called to make reservations for L.I. Sound fishing, but right now things are quite slow because of the very long and cold winter and the resultant low water temps. Even the Housatonic River—usually a safe bet for springtime anglers--has been less productive than usual, but by the time we're back in the water, things should have warmed up, and we should be finding striped bass and then, hopefully, some fluke in early June, followed by bluefish and porgies as temps rise.
