Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

We had a few charters cancelled by bad weather two weeks ago, followed by Sandy and the Frankinstorm that did major damage, as forecast. We hastily moved our boat to a safer harbor, and it came through without a scratch. When our own marina was navigable and the storage area freed from six boats that had come off their blocks and landed all over the place, we put "My Bonnie" up on blocks, washed and polished her, had the engine pickled, and did whatever we do every year at this time. She's now covered her up tight until next spring.
This was far from our best season, and we're not optimistic about next year. Besides the uncertain economic situation, the local ecosystem suffered quite a blow with the big storm--with small islands and shorelines changing their shape and all kinds of flotsam throughout Long Island Sound.
Only time will tell what awaits us in 2013.
Our Florida charters will begin in early December, and we've had bad news on that front, too. It appears that most of the Indian River sea grass has mysteriously vanished, and local anglers are reporting very minimal catches.
