Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Scott Baird had a great afternoon at Wilson Cove, catching large bluefish under the bunker schools. It was a brand-new experience for the Westport resident.
Dana Epstein of Stamford brought along her fiance, Jeremy Willinger, and his dad, Kirk, for a fantastic morning on Long Island Sound. Everyone caught huge blues at Rocky Point off of Green's Ledge Light. The fish ranged from 9 to 12 pounds. This fishing trip was Jeremy's birthday gift for the second time in two years, and it promises to become an annual tradition for the couple.
Scott Brydson of Norwalk, a “My Bonnie” regular, had a great day fishing at 11B, bringing in blues on the surface, using chrome Creek Chub poppers. Then in the Norwalk Islands he hooked a large striper on a Gag lure, but the fish got the better of Brydson, breaking off his line around the rocks.
The bunker schools are still in abundance around Wilson Cove and Green's Ledge Light, which should insure good blue fishing for a while. We also expect to see top-water action mid-Sound if the weather continues as is. Look for diving terns on the surface, and chances are there are baitfish below with blues and/or striped bass pushing them to the surface.
