Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Rick McCready of Fairfield and his party had great bluefish action off of Peck's Ledge with all fish caught on the surface.
Nick Ogurtfsou treated his parents, visiting from Russia, to a fishing trip aboard "My Bonnie." The family had a spectacular day with non-stop topwater action, catching blues 3-9 pounds, using chrome Creek Chubs and 1-oz Crippled Herring.
Hal DiBona and party from Vermont enjoyed good action off of Shippan Point, catching blues with a by-catch of porgies and fluke.
Mike Brennan of Darien and his party of novice fishermen cast for blues off of Copps for about 45 minutes, where they surprised themselves by landing nine. Then we moved to 30 feet of water where we had fantastic porgy action, with a keeper fluke of 19". The group kept all of the fish for their evening barbecue.
Rick Hauppner of Stamford and his group had a tough afternoon, having to deal with a heavy northeast wind preceding a severe thunderstorm. We had to cut the trip short, but they managed to bring in some porgies and a few schoolie bass before the lightning hit the area.
Topwater action with blues has been terrific most of the week. Bait is still abundant everywhere. Bonito have been spotted off of Port Jefferson, and we should expect to see some schools on our side very soon.
