Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Dan Donica, a recent transplant from Oklahoma to West Norwalk, sailed with us for his first fishing trip in these parts. He brought along his mother, whom he wanted to show Long Island Sound, and the two of them had a wonderful day catching striped bass, including a 34" keeper caught on a top-water popper. They also enjoyed non-stop porgy action with the scup coming in up to 14".
I had to cancel three trips before, during and after Isabel. I pulled the boat out of the water and stored her in dry dock for a couple of days. The respite allowed me to do some serious clean-up and waxing, which she really appreciated after a very busy summer of heavy-duty fishing.
There's an enormous amount of peanut bunker everywhere, with lots of schools of blues on the surface, and we're looking forward to great top-water action for the next month or so.
