Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Mark Greenberg and some business associates from DeutscheBank had a great afternoon with large blues caught on live bunker in Wilson Cove. Then we found smaller bluefish off of Green's Ledge Light--with everyone bringing in blues using light tackle and surface plugs.
Art Decker, Sam Calabro and other Union Pacific Railroad employees out of Omaha, Nebraska had a wonderful day catching school bass up to 25", plus non-stop porgy action, and several bluefish caught on the surface outside of Cockenoe Island.
Something different for "My Bonnie" last week. The U.S. Coast Guard contracted a marine engineering firm to check out the structural status and loss of rip-rap around Peck's Ledge Light. So on the coldest morning last week we took out SCUBA divers, Eric Smith and Patricia McNeil, to do the job. We helped to record some of the vital information for their report.
George Fischer of Fairfield and two friends had some excitement with very large blues in Wilson Cove--despite strong winds and heavy seas. They boated three blues and lost five. We then went to Middle Passage, where we were able to find some porgies and striped bass. On the way back to our marina, we found hundreds of blues feeding on peanut bunker close to the surface near Roger's Reef.
Scott Brydson of Norwalk and his friend, J.C., also of Norwalk, found bluefish in Wilson Cove again, but the action was definitely slower than earlier in the week. We also came upon some blues on top, but they were very skittish and difficult to hit.
Lots of blues, bass, and porgies are hanging around, just as we predicted, because of the massive peanut bunker population in the Norwalk Islands. The action should be phenomenal for the next few weeks.
