Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report
On Saturday Bill Wilcox and I found large bluefish (8-12 pounds) feeding on bunker in the early morning in Wilson Cove.
The next day we sailed with "My Bonnie" regular, Scott Brydson of Norwalk, and his friend, J.C. of Redding. They did very well, with keeper bass 15 lbs and 18 lbs, and large blues up to 14 pounds. They lost a few in the very rough conditions of Sunday morning.
Jigging is starting to produce at 11B, with blues 4-6 pounds as well as schoolie bass. The situation should be getting better every day, but the challenge will be sailing out to the fishing grounds as the weather gets less friendly.
Water temps are around 58 degrees; we've had reports that there is some migration out of Rhode Island, so as temps drop, we should see an influx of large stripers very soon.
