Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Stan Levy of New York City and his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, Maxwell, had their first trip ever on Long Island Sound. They brought in porgies, striped bass, and blues around the Norwalk Islands.
John Klatte of New Jersey and his brother, Joe--and Joe’s son--Greg, plus a friend, Ron, started off with a slow morning on a windy day, bagging one keeper fluke and two small blues—and losing a 10-12 pounder right at the boat. We made our way east to Cockenoe and scored with almost two dozen bass plus another keeper fluke and a handful of porgies. Young Greg had never before fished in salt water.
Scott Howard of Westport and client, Chris of Port Jefferson, had a great afternoon off of Cockenoe--experiencing for their first time ever in on a bluefish blitz on the surface.
Tom Budinger and friends, Dixon Downey of Rowayton and Blake--had a great day chasing clues on top off of Green's Ledge Light and then they enjoyed fishing Cockenoe where there were acres of blues, caught on spincaster and fly rod.
Dana and Jeremy Willinger of Stamford brought along their fathers for a great morning on the Sound. We got them into keeper bass and blues up to 14 pounds off of Greens Ledge Light, after which we found blues on the surface off Sheffield Island, which they all caught on Crippled Herring lures; all the fish weighed inn between three and five pounds.
The blues are here in huge numbers, and we're hoping they hang around for the rest of the summer. Lots of peanut bunker are around to attract them, and in the deeper waters we're finding larger blues and striped bass, as well.
