Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Guy Fournier of Bailiwick Roofing brought along his two daughters for their first trip aboard “My Bonnie.” It was a slow day, but we pulled in some bluefish and porgies at 28C, along with a 4-foot sandshark. Guy got lots of good photo ops with the girls.
Henry Kalan of Weston and a friend got into bluefish on the surface off of Copp’s, releasing more than 30.
Four boy scouts of a Norwalk troop and two of their fathers took their annual trip. The blues seem to have disappeared from their usual haunts, and we had to spend a few hours looking for fish. We finally found bluefish at Smith’s Reef—3 to 5 pounds—on the surface, salvaging the morning for our six passengers.
Jerry Townsend of Wilton and his party of four caught bluefish off of Goose Island ; they enjoyed non-stop action for the whole trip.
Ted Lunney of Stamford and his father, Bob, had a banner day off of Green’s Ledge Light, with acres of blues on the surface, all caught on Crippled Herring and Creek Chub lures.
NYC resident Michael Cohen, summering in Westport , brought along his 7-year-old son Benjamin, for their second trip with us. Another very slow start, but when we moved to Long Net Point off Darien, we found the blues on top, all in the 1-2 pound range.
Steve Banquier of Deutchebank and three associates fished 28C and very well with mixed bag of porgies, sea bass, and bluefish up to 9 pounds.
Joe Mezzilli and Angelo Mazola of Stamford caught bluefish around Copp’s, after which we moved to a porgy hole, where they baled more than 20 keepers and released another 30 shorts. Kevin Regan of Norwalk and some of his employees started the afternoon off slowly, catching a few porgies, but the day ended with a keeper fluke, more porgies and some bluefish at 28C.
Jason Linthicum of New Haven and two friends had a tough morning on rough water, but we found a school of bunker mid-Sound, and after snagging some and live-lining them we brought in several nice-sized blues up to 11 pounds.
Norwalkers, Mark and Ben Hawley and their dad, loaded up on porgies and finished off the evening with blues caught chunking off of 28C.
It was a long, tough week...with several more charters on the books this week!
