Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

"My Bonnie" regulars, Virginia Kamsky and her 7-year-old son, Michael of Wilson Point and NYC, and Michael's father--visiting from Australia-- started out the day baling large keeper porgies, but everything came to a screeching halt when little Mike was hooked in the cheek by a porgy rig. It was scary for the boy and his mom, but the emergency room at Norwalk Hospital took care of the problem very quickly, and Michael is now ready to get back up on the horse....
Ted Lunney of Stamford returned for his second trip this year, bringing along his friend, Frank. They caught almost a dozen striped bass with bucktail lures plus a mess of porgies.
Jim Tierney of New Canaan and his 7-year-old twin sons, Alex and Jack--all good fishermen--caught 10 stripers while drifting sand worms, as well as 15 keeper porgies--finishing off the day catching six bluefish on the surface.
David Rush of Fairfield hosted a birthday party
for his 10-year-old son and four of his friends.
They all had a great time with non-stop porgy action, topped off by the catch of a 22-inch fluke by the birthday boy--the icing on his birthday cake.
Topwater action has been very good, some days better than others, but bait is still holding strong, and albacore have begun to show up in our area.
HURRICANE UPDATE:
We're happy to report that Frances' wrath passed over us, sparing our boat and our lodgings! The Ferndale Lodge dock needs some repair, but other than that, everything seems to be fine in Sebastian; we're very grateful.
