Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report
Cliff Blaze of Norwalk had a good afternoon with bass throughout the Islands.
Joe Cimino of Stamford also had fun with schoolie bass throughout the Westport shores, using white bucktails with Mr. Twisters.
Carl Correnti of Wilton and his party--returning for their first trip this year--worked the Norwalk Islands, catching a few bass. We then chunked off of Green's Ledge, but had no luck there, so we moved across Long Island Sound, where the group had non-stop action with striped bass off of Sunken Meadow, tallying 19 stripers and a few blues, as well.
Derek Shapiro of Norwalk brought along his wife, Crystal, his dad, and another friend, Edie. They all caught bass up to 26".
Thorman Lawrence, his brother, and brother-in-law--all residents of Poughkeepsi--celebrated Father's Day with their first saltwater fishing trip. All caught striped bass throughout the Norwalk Islands; then at Green's Ledge we had bass up to 27" and dropped some bluefish in the 8-10 pound class because our rods weren't rigged for the toothy predators.
Ray Sisler of Norwalk brought along his son, 13-year-old, Jeff, who was longing to catch a striped bass. After a so-so morning, they scored with some nice bass up to 24".
Donald Miller of Darien brought his friend, David, for their first trip aboard "My Bonnie." Miller, 74 years old, caught his first striped bass even--after fishing Long Island Sound for 30 years. It turned out to be a keeper, and the two buddies took home some nice filets for their dinner that evening.
Water temps in the evening are running 62-65 degrees, which is keeping the daytime mid-Sound topwater action to a minimum. Once the water reaches its normal seasonal temp of 68-72 degrees, we should see a marked increase in blues on the top, and everyone's anxious to get into this action.
