Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Nick Timoshanko, an importer/exporter who resides in Westport, entertained Sergey Baranenko the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kalmykia (former part of the USSR) for his second trip aboard “My Bonnie”. It was a so-so day, but they had fun chasing 2-4 pound bluefish on the surface.
Ed Kosinski of Wilson Point, along with his son, Dylan, entertained friends—Steve Sr. and Steve Jr., on a brutally-hot Saturday morning. Everyone caught blues on the surface about 1.5 miles off of Middle Passage. We also found a nice school off of Green’s Ledge Light.
Wiltonites, Bob Urbain and his son, Eric, also had to deal with a sweltering morning the following day, but they had a wonderful experience catching bluefish at Cockenoe Reef—with nonstop action for most of the trip. More than 25 were caught, but they released all but four for the dinner table.
Two days later, on a much cooler morning, we had a wonderful trip with Nick Ogurtsov, who returned this year with his parents, Olga and Boris, who reside in Wisconsin. His mother, Olga is a professor of Russian Literature; dad is now retired. We started out with bass up to 25” and then found huge schools of bluefish off of Southport. From thereon the action was continuous, and we left the blues still slaughtering the bunker on the surface.
