Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Rick Bradt of Jefferies & Company, entertained some colleagues last week. We picked up the party in Greenwich, and during a very short trip (two hours--because they had a business dinner meeting to attend) the group of four managed to bring in plenty of striped bass, using both bucktails and surface poppers.
Norwalker, Ross Wachowski, and his brother-in-law, visiting from Pennsylvania, had a great Sunday morning--jigging bass at the O.B. and then fishing midSound, bringing in bluefish that were on the surface about three miles east of the Northport stacks. All the blues were caught on poppers, and they ranged from 4-6 pounds.
On Memorial Day "My Bonnie" regular, Virginia Kamsky of Wilson Point, brought along son, Michael, and two friends from China--another mother and son. The younger guest suffered a moderate case of seasickness, although the waters were quite calm, and the trip had to be cut short to get the boy some relief. However, they did bring in some blues on the surface and striped bass, drifting sandworms along the Norwalk Islands.
While we fished we spotted loads of large bunker schools throughout the Sound--a very encouraging sign that big blues and stripers should be taking up residence here very shortly.
