Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Ralph Remin of White Plains brought along his son, Daniel, for their second trip this year. Daniel, an employee of ESPN, has been fishing with his dad ever since he was a little boy. The twosome had a good day, bringing in ten striped bass up to 26” and three bluefish up to 10 pounds. The fish were caught on topwater Gag popper and bucktails.
On Saturday morning we sailed with Jim Breckenridge of Wilton and his two sons, Andrew and Nicholas—as well as Jim’s father-in-law, Nick Redding, a Florida resident. The family caught 18 stripers, several porgies and a few blues. The day was a great treat for the boys, age 4 and 6, who did a terrific job reeling in their catch and entertaining all aboard with their antics.
Sunday’s trip was with Henry Calam of Greenwich and his friend, Sallie—both of whom sailed with us just a few days ago. They got into a nice mess of porgies and bluefish. The twosome also caught 14 stripers up to 25”. The fish were caught on bucktail and sandworms.
On Monday morning we had South Salem NY residents, Bob Musich, General Manager of Rockrimmon Country Club in Stamford, and his lovely wife, Nancy—returning for their annual trip with us. It was a beautiful day, and we sailed to Sunken Meadow across the Sound where we found bluefish while blindcasting along the shore. The blues weighed up to 10 pounds, and all were caught on chrome Creek Chub lures.
