Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

On Sunday we sailed with Michael Gray of Canfield Island in Norwalk, along with his wife, son and daughter-in-law. The family had a lot of fun pulling in striped bass and porgies, keeping four of the scup for their dinner table.
Monday morning’s trip was with Phil Carey of Poughquag, NY, and his 11-year-old son, Chris—for whom this was a first-time saltwater experience. They started off at 11B with slammer blues. Chris remarked after hooking into his first blue, “This doesn’t feel like any of the sunnies I’ve caught before.” When we moved closer to shore they finished the day with 11 stripers. They kept a few bluefish for dinner.
Tuesday’s trip was with “My Bonnie” regulars, Derek Shapiro of Greenwich, and his dad, Sidney, of Brooklyn. Derek also brought along a colleague, visiting from Pennsylvania. The threesome enjoyed a nice bass catch—14 up to 27”—and then non-stop action with porgies. All of the fish were released except for six of the porgies.
The jigging action off of 11B and the Obstruction Buoy is getting very hot.
We’ll be pulling the boat out of the water around November 10, so we’re encouraging all anglers to call us now to book their dates before that time.
