Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report
On Monday we had first-timers, Syd and Ann Weiner of Saugatuck Shores, along with two young children. No one in the family ever caught a fish on Long Island Sound before this trip, but everyone got into bass and bluefish that day. All the fish were released except for a few blues for their evening barbecue.
Our passengers on Thursday morning were Jeremy Willinger and Jerry Breksa of Stamford. It was a good trip, with striped bass caught on sandworms and bluefish hooked with surgical tube.
Friday's trip was an early afternoon excursion, with Wiltonites, Robert Urbain and his son--along with fly fisherman, Jack Frantz of New Canaan. They enjoyed non-stop action hooking up with blues feeding on peanut bunker off of Peck's Ledge Light. The arm-weary anglers boated about 40 bluefish in the 3-9 pound classs--keeping eight for the dinner table. They also managed to get two bonito at the end of their lines, but could land neither. Catching bonito is far from shooting fish in a barrel!
