We're Seeing A Mixed Bag This Week

Capt. Sal Tardella
June 7, 2010
Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Captain Sal Tardella of "My Bonnie" Charters had a few trips last week--some more productive than others.

Last Thursday we had Michelle and Anthony Chowtai, a couple from Queens, NY; it was their first experience fishing these waters. We left the dock at 7:30am in an easterly direction and quickly found fish breaking the surface. I presumed they were blues, but they turned out to be striped bass, and the party landed 15-–with two keepers in the lot, 12 and 15 lbs.-–as well as a few blues mixed in. After two hours of working that school we moved towards the middle of the Sound, and the couple chunked up another four stripers.

On Monday we had aboard Dan Welch of New Canaan and his dad, Richard Welch of Ft. Meyers, FL. Prospects on the CT side didn't look very hopeful in the early morning, so I crossed over the Sound to Northport, where he found blues on top—bringing in a nice passel of fish ranging in size between 4-7 pounds.
