Still nothing to write home about....

Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

We've had several charters over the last two weeks, with the primary catch being nice-sized porgies, some fluke with many keepers among them, and--once in awhile, some mid-sized bluefish on the surface. Nothing to report in the striped bass department except for a few schoolies here and there.
The temps have gone from close to 100 degrees to the mid-60's seemingly overnight, and we don't know what to expect for the rest of the month. This is one of the most confusing seasons we can remember, and charters are not what they used to be. Even private anglers aren't going out as much as usual; fuel at the docks hovers near $5 a gallon, and it's very discouraging to travel all over L.I. Sound, burning up money without too much to bring home at the end of the day.
Maybe August will bring some good surprises.
