Anna Maria - Saltwater Fishing Report

July 1, 2013 - Fishing Report - Happy Independence Day!

Fishing was best in the cooler early morning or late evening. Trout were hitting shiners throughout the bays in 4-8 feet over grass. Reds and snook were more active on the strong out going tides in the evenings. Best areas were the beaches near the passes. We had a lot of bluefish hitting over the deep grass on the moving tides. Most were in the 4-6 pound range. Mangrove snapper were eating shrimp on light tackle around all the reefs and hard bottom in the bays. Tarpon are still in decent numbers on the beaches and passes. Small crabs, pinfish and big threadfin herring are the choice baits. A few permit are being caught on the highest relief on the offshore reefs and wrecks. Tom Chaya
