END OF AGUST....No Sweat Fishin'

Capt. Dave Sipler
August 31, 2010
Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Finally...cooler weather.

Overcast skies, wet weather? It's okay. Cuz, it hasn't been 110 in the shade. And as the days shorten. It's been so much more comfortable.

Can't wait till that first hint of fall in the air. But we're not there just yet.

But almost.

The Redfish are priming up for the fall spawn already. The finger Mullet are numerous and all over the place. Shrimp can be caught at the boat ramp dock at Mayport, and in the creeks.

The tropics are active. It's dark at 7am. and Dark just after 8pm.

Football is about to start, and hopefully Sunday's will have people think pig skin and tail-gating instead of wearing out the jet-skis.

I've fished on some cloudy days, windy days, and slick calm days lately. Each has it's own challenges.

Here's some of the photos,

Variety is coming and coming quick. Trout, Flounder, Redfish, Jacks, Ladyfish, Croakers, Black Drum, Shark, Tarpon, and even though the kids are back in school doesn't mean a little vacation can't be had in Jacksonville-Amelia Island-Ponte Vedra or Jacksonville Beach.

By October we're into my favorite time of year.
So don't hestitate to get while the gettin' is good. Summer in the hot sun maybe fishing time for many. But belive me when I say, it's not the top season for N.E. Florida.

Fall is way better.

Target Species:

More Fishing Reports:

Inshore fishing the St. Johns River, and estuaries around Jacksonville, Florida provides year round opportunities for Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, and Sheepshead to name just a few. Plus, seasonal favorites such as Shark, Tripletail and Pompano. The legendary Mayport Jetties are mile long piles of huge granite boulders that protect the inlet to the St. Johns River from the Atlantic Ocean. Around these jetties is some of the best and most consistent fishing.
