Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report
Big, small, I like 'em all. For my customers.
It's that time of year to that we get to do both, heavy tackle, and light tackle all in the same day.
Light tackle, either float-rig fishing live shrimp down the jetty rocks, or pitching a shrimp out on the bottom. Or, cast netting some live wigglers such as Pogies, or Mullet and dropping them down in heavier current in deeper water, along hard bottom areas in the river.
Both certainly doesn't guarentee any "keeper" Redbass, that's for sure. Legal keepers being 18-27" one per person a day.
Most common in the areas I fish are 28-30 inch fish. And we have to work hard to find some keepers...."sometimes".
Get the right tide on the right day, and it can be all out mayhem, or as I like to call it; Combat fishing along the jetty rocks. Hold on and fish in hard, if the SE winds blowin'. But it's okay. The fish will show-up. And it's usually Redbass this time of year with a mix of Jacks, or even a nice Trout or flattie, sometimes.
I have reservation out all the way till mid-August, so as I contantly preach, if you want the best tidal days and want me to plan a for you, THINK AHEAD. Book your days 2 weeks to 30 days in advance.

Jacksonville Fishing Forecast:
Being a student of the fishing in Louisiana, with plans on moving there at one time. All for the Trout fishing, and nothing but the Trout fishing.
The oil spill has taken a dream I've had for the past 10 years and certainly washed it away.
Even though the reports are seriously strong still coming out of Lake Pontchatrain and Lake Borgne.
I really feel for my fellow fishing guides over there. That have no idea what an impact they've all had on me over the years.
I hope we see an end to the devastation, and a quick clean-up, because La. is truely a sportsman's paradise.
