Tides-Moons-Currents, Oh MY!

Capt. Dave Sipler
November 28, 2011
Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Whoa, this months New Moon tide is really a screamer.

6 feet of water has to vacate in just 6 hrs.
A "normal" tide, if normal is the proper word to use, would be 4 feet.

But, here's how it works for me. During these times, I fish where there would normally not be much current other wise.

And that is areas that have "built-in" buffers.

Where might that be?

Up in the coastal creeks.

Yep, although I'm more of a Jetty rock inlet kinda guy. There's time when it is futile trying to fight that current out there.

And to be very honest with you. It's been rougher than a "cob" out there at the Mayport Jetties for what seems weeks.

But, it really doesn't matter where you fish in and around the Jacksonville area.

Again, honestly that time is ticking away, right now!

It's almost December as I write this, and say to myself, "Where did November go?" Being my favorite month of the year, or at least the start of the best time of year to inshore light tackle fish in this area.

DON'T LET IT PASS YOU BY.....CALL THE JETTYWOLF!

Plus, seasonal favorites such as Shark, Tripletail and Pompano. The legendary Mayport Jetties are mile long piles of huge granite boulders that protect the inlet to the St. Johns River from the Atlantic Ocean. Around these jetties is some of the best and most consistent fishing.
