TROPHY SPECKLED TROUT

Capt. Dave Sipler
March 28, 2012
Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

It's that time of year folks....(has been since January, for me)

In just the last 7 days we've had (5) Trout pushing 5 pounds or better.

I'd like to be saying 8 pounds or better. But either way, the fish are nice.

Big Trout fishing is a "smart style" of fishing.
Sure an occasional one can be caught by the fisherman chunking a dead shrimp on the bottom sitting back and chugging a beer.

But, the way I like to go about it is "hunting them". Or as I have refered to before; TROUT TRACKING.

If you fish enough, you can see patterns. Try to follow the pattern, and you'll be successful.

By no means is Trout fishing, or any other fishing in N.E. Florida as easy as it maybe alone the Gulf Coast. Because here we get "windows". Windows of perfect tide. And on the east coast TIDES rule!!

And as a big time inlet fisherman, add in winds, seas, and possible boat traffic, to deal with. When fishing deep water, structured inlets. You better have your ducks in a row.

But as I always say, Inlets are exciting areas. Be one lined with jetty rocks or not. I like them!

C'mon jump aboard the Jettywolf. My best trip and most versatile for serious Trophy Trout Tracking is TWO persons.
(because I have two sides of the boat)

More Fishing Reports:

Inshore fishing the St. Johns River, and estuaries around Jacksonville, Florida provides year round opportunities for Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, and Sheepshead to name just a few. Plus, seasonal favorites such as Shark, Tripletail and Pompano. The legendary Mayport Jetties are mile long piles of huge granite boulders that protect the inlet to the St. Johns River from the Atlantic Ocean. Around these jetties is some of the best and most consistent fishing.
