Sebastian - Saltwater Fishing Report

Our Florida boat is back in tip-top shape, and last Wednesday, December 23, two local friends and I took advantage of the good weather and tried our luck on the Indian River. We began scouting our normal haunts around the Intra-Coastal Waterway and some of the clam beds, where we found some nice pompano—as well as some sea trout, caught on Gulp! soft bait shrimp. We then made our way towards the flats near the Sebastian Inlet—and had some good action with bluefish 3-5 lbs., some sea trout and several feisty ladyfish. Working our way further north we tried some deeper holes and were rewarded with sea trout up to 19″ as well as silver trout and more ladyfish–and an unusual amount of catfish and sail cats, with the largest coming in around six pounds.
Winds weren't too high, and water temps were around 67 degrees, and it was a great day of fishing for the three of us. As we moved from spot to spot we saw a lot of bait, which is a very good sign of things to come.
