Sebastian - Saltwater Fishing Report

The weather has been very uncooperative for the past week-to-ten days. Temperatures dropped severely, and the colder waters haven't been at all attractive to the local species. We haven't seen any redfish in the Inlet since we had our fine catch in mid-January.
It's not supposed to warm up significantly down here until the end of the coming week, and when it does it will probably take a few more days for temps in the Indian River to move into their ideal position on the thermometer--the mid-to-upper 70's.
Besides the cold air, there's been some rain and high winds almost daily. That was nothing compared with last Friday morning's scenario, when we had to take cover, fearing the arrival of the Central Florida tornado that had wreaked havoc around 3:30am in many neighborhoods around Orlando. With the warnings coming in at a fast and furious pace, Bonnie and I hastily threw some important papers, etc. into our truck and drove to a nearby Publix Supermarket, believing that that sturdy edifice would be much safer than is our manufactured home. Lots of other locals stood in groups of four and five out in front of the store, watching the sky and listening to weather updates. In fact, two small twisters did hit areas around three and five miles away, but our area of Sebastian was spared (for which we are grateful to the Almighty!) Today we purchased a hazard-alert NOAA weather radio so we won't be caught asleep if another tornado hits in the middle of the night.
Our sometimes-mate, Emilio (Amin) Pandolfi of Danbury CT, is scheduled to spend a few days with us next week. He's itchin' to go fishin', so we'll be out there--plugging away--regardless of weather conditions!
