Sebastian - Saltwater Fishing Report

Restaurant chef, Jim Whitford of Staten Island NY, and his schoolteacher wife, Lynn--and Lynn's dad, Tom Wiegelmann of Sebastian FL and New Hampshire, had a great afternoon fishing with us the last week of February. They brought in a mixed bag of pompano, jack crevelles, sea trout, and bluefish--all caught on lures. Tom, who's a great amateur chef, smoked up all the fish (except for the pompano, which he grilled for that evening's dinner); and the young couple took home the smoked filets to share with friends in the Big Apple.
Sam Pino of Copeague NY and his son, Rick Pino of Sebastian--along with Ed Jones of Verona, VA--had a wonderful day on the River, enjoying non-stop action with about six dozen sea trout, jacks, and ladyfish. All of the fish were released.
For the past two weeks the winds have plagued all the local fishermen; water temps are so-so, but the whitecaps make fishing very unpleasant to all except diehards. We know it's going to get better soon!
