Sebastian - Saltwater Fishing Report

Last Friday we fished with local buddy, Rick Pino, his father-in-law, Ed Jones—visiting from Virginia—and another great fisherman--snowbird, Ron Greisdale—whose home base is Great Britain. We didn't get anything spectacular, but we all kept busy with ladyfish, a few jacks and some sea trout. It was distressing to see that so much of the grassy areas are thinning out; they usually hold nice schools of trout and an occasional redfish.
On President's Day we fished with David Rose, a Michigander visiting relatives in Melbourne. We started out in the Indian River and had to deal with chilly temperatures in the 50's and steady high winds out of the north, but Rose was surefooted and held on, even with 22mph gusts, being rewarded with lots of ladyfish and a half a dozen trout—four keepers and one measuring close to 20". We then moved to the very rough Sebastian Inlet and our passenger brought in half a dozen jacks weighing 2-4 pounds and a lizard fish—a first for Rose. All the fish were released.
