Sebastian - Saltwater Fishing Report

I fished yesterday with local buddy, Jack Balme, and we did better than our last outing together.
We bagged a few bluefish in the Inlet, after which we worked around the fenders, where we found some mackerel that were hitting soft curly white bait. There were jacks and ladyfish, but no trout. I hooked into a strange-looking fish that appears to have been a houndfish, (based on what I saw a reference book on Florida species.) It looked somewhat like a barracuda because of all its sharp teeth in a long snout.
The Sebastian River is still devoid of grass, but we've managed to pick away at some of the regular hookups we always expect to find in that body of water. We keep hearing reports about the same dearth of sea grass all along the central east coast of Florida, with no scientific evidence as to the cause…
